Wolves Roll to 5-0 Win at Shorter

ROME, Ga. -  The UWG women's soccer team scored a season-high five goals on Friday night, defeating the Shorter Hawks by a 5-0 final in Gulf South Conference action.

The Wolves' five goals are the most in a single game since the spring season of 2021 when the Wolves opened with a five goal performance at Emmanuel. It was total domination on Friday as UWG outshot the Hawks 29-1, and put 15 of their shots on frame.

The advantage was set early in the game with three first half goals by the Wolves. Athird minute goal by Jade Butcher and assisted by Catherine Reeves set the pace early on.

The second goal came in the 35th minute, and it was Kenna Kay who found the back of the net to make it a 2-0 game, taking advantage of a great pass from Katherine Hagans. This was quickly followed up by the final goal of the first half, made by Katherine Hagans, and assisted by Victoria Grant in the 39th minute. It was Hagans' team-leading sixth goal of the season.

Grant got her second assist of the game and Kay notched her second goal in the first minutes of the second half, stretching the lead to 4-0 in the 48th minute.

Erin Tuorto scored her first career goal to put the exclamation point on the win, converting a third assist for Grant in the 78th minute. Grant becomes just the fourth player in program history to notch three assists in a single game.

The action continues on the road against Lee University on Sunday, October 15. Kick off for Sunday's game is set for 3 p.m. from Cleveland, Tennessee.
