CARROLLTON, Ga. – The UWG women's soccer team came up short on Friday night, falling 4-0 to the 21
st-ranked West Florida Argonauts in Gulf South Conference play.
West Florida came out clicking on all cylinders, scoring goals in the seventh and ninth minutes to take a very early 2-0 lead. The Wolves then successfully defended the Argo attack, but UWF did add a third goal right before the break.
In the second half, West Georgia turned up the pressure and had a better attack, rattling off six of their eight shots. The Wolves couldn't find the back of the net, while UWF was able to add a 52
nd minute penalty kick goal to account for the final margin.
UWG put three of their seven shots on target while UWF put half of their 14 shots on frame.
West Georgia remains at home on Sunday, hosting Spring Hill at 1 p.m. for Senior Day. The Senior Day ceremonies honoring
Abby McGlamery and
Haley Brinkman are set for postgame following the Wolves and Badgers.
