Soccer Claims Senior Day Win Over Spring Hill

CARROLLTON, Ga. -  Senior day Sunday ends on a positive note after defeating the Spring Hill Badgers 1-0 in Gulf South Conference soccer play.

The Wolves dominated offensively by doubling the shot total of Spring Hill, with 13 shots to the Badgers' six.

After leading a scoreless first half it was early in the second half that Wes. Georgia made the lone goal that secured the win. The shot came from junior Angie Garces as she took advantage of a deflection in the box in the 54th minute of the match.

Senior Haley Brinkman fought off six shots from Spring Hill to secure her 13th career shutout, none more exciting than the save she made in the final moments of the game, diving to her left to stop the Badgers' final attempt to equalize the game.

Following the game, the Wolves honored Brinkman and fellow senior Abby McGlamery.

The Wolves have one final regular season game remaining and it will carry postseason implications as West Georgia and Valdosta State meet on Friday, October 27 at 5 p.m.
