WINTER PARK, Fla. - The UWG softball team fell in both games of Wednesday's doubleheader at 22nd-ranked Rollins, finishing up the final leg of their Spring Break trip before settling back into Gulf South Conference play.
West Georgia (11-19) was outscored 18-1 in the doubleheader against the nation's 22nd-ranked team as Rollins (25-6) had 18 hits combined and held the Wolves to just 10 hits combined.
GAME ONE: Rollins 8, West Georgia 0
It was all Rollins in game one as the Tars run-ruled the Wolves 8-0 in six innings. West Georgia had just four hits in the game with Isabella Pinto registering two of those in the nine hole.
Rollins went up 2-0 in the first inning and then added a third run in the third, and two more in the fourth to lead 5-0. In the top of the fifth, UWG loaded the bases after an error, walk, and a single, but then Rollins' starter Ashley Worrell struck out the next three batters to get out of the jam.
It was two more runs in the fifth for Rollins, and then the Tars walked it off with a run in the sixth inning.
Blaire Bizette and Makayla Register had the other two hits for UWG while Bizette got the start in the circle and pitched five innings.
GAME TWO: Rollins 10, West Georgia 1
Similar to game one, Rollins got out to an early 2-0 lead, and extended it to 4-0 after three before the Wolves got on the board in the top of the fourth. It came in the form of a solo home run from Makayla Register, giving her two home runs thus far in her freshman campaign.
The Tars broke it open with four runs in the fifth and ended the game with two in the sixth on a two-run home run.
Register finished the game 3-for-3 with two doubles and a home run while Zekylah Boyd, Emerson Miller, and Addison Sturdivant also had hits.
UP NEXT
The Wolves now head to Livingston, Alabama for a three-game set with the West Alabama Tigers that begins on Saturday with a doubleheader.
