MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The UWG softball team fell to the nation's 17th-ranked team on Friday, falling 10-0 to Auburn Montgomery in the opener of this weekend's three-game set.
West Georgia (16-27, 7-15 GSC) was held to only three hits in the contest, and committed three errors while Auburn Montgomery (30-9, 17-5) had 14 hits on the night.
AUM got up 5-0 after an inning, scoring five runs on six hits and a pair of errors in the opening inning.
After Makayla Register came on in relief of Calli Hardison, Register put up zeros in the second and third, but AUM struck for two in the fourth and three in the fifth to run-rule the Wolves.
Megan Waites, Blaire Bizette, and Cali Hardison had the three hits for UWG.
The Wolves and Warhawks are back at it tomorrow to wrap up the series with a doubleheaders for a 2 p.m. EST start.
