Moore Announces the Signing of Shelton Williams-Dryden

CARROLLTON, Ga. – The University of West Georgia Men's Basketball program continues to reshape their roster ahead of their inaugural season at the Division I level as head coach Dave Moore announced the signing of Shelton Williams-Dryden on Monday.

Williams-Dryden, a 6'6" forward, joins UWG after playing two seasons at Milwaukee Area Tech.

"Shelton is coming off a First Team All-American season in junior college," said coach Moore. "He is a volume rebounder with a really high motor, a versatile defender, and a guy that can really score around the basket. He has worked hard to expand his game and we can't wait to get started working with him! Special things coming from this young man, Wolves Nation!"

As a true freshman in the 2022-23 season, Williams-Dryden immediately showed that he was ready for the collegiate level, beginning his career with 15 consecutive double-digit scoring games that included five double-doubles. On January 14, 2022, the forward put together the best performance of his career, recording a 32-point and 23-rebound double-double which was the highlight of 10 double-doubles in his freshman campaign. Behind Williams-Dryden, Milwaukee Area Tech finished the season with a 32-4 overall record and a NJCAA Division II National Championship.

In his sophomore campaign, Williams-Dryden took his game to an even higher level. The incoming junior averaged 19.6 points, 9.4 rebounds, 1.4 blocks, and 1.3 steals per game on 63.2 percent shooting, leading to Milwaukee Area Tech to a 30-7 overall record and an appearance in the NJCAA Division II Championship Quarterfinals.

Williams-Dryden recorded 15 double-doubles in the 2023-24 season, highlighted by a 31-point, 17-rebound performance against third ranked Ellsworth on March 20.  While being a double-double machine, the forward was also one of the better scoring bigs in the country, scoring in double figures in 32 games which led to a First-Team All-American selection at the season's end.

"We couldn't be more excited to welcome Shelton to our UWG basketball family," coach Moore continued. "He will have an immediate impact for us in the ASUN."

The forward is now set to join the Wolves in the Fall of 2024 after accumulating a 62-11 overall record in two seasons at Milwaukee Area Tech.
