UWG Volleyball Seniors Named Academic All-ASUN

CARROLLTON, Ga- UWG volleyball capped off the 2025 season with Marley Staats, Mackenzie Yoakum and Sanai Young earning Academic All-ASUN honors, meaning this season's full senior class will walk away with the distinction. 

Earning her degree in nursing, Staats currently posts a 3.62 GPA. After graduating, she plans to work as an ICU nurse before returning to school to become a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA). On the court, the outside hitter played in 20 matches this season, totaling 57 digs, 12 points, seven blocks, six assists, five kills and three service aces.

Graduating in the spring, Yoakum records a 3.87 GPA while earning a communications degree. After UWG, the right side hitter plans to get her masters in sports media while also using her last season of eligibility. In her 14 matches played this season, Yoakum tallied 21 points, 15 kills, 11 blocks, five digs and one assist. Yoakum has earned all-academic honors once before, being named to the Big East All-Academic team during her freshman year at Seton Hall.

Rounding out this year's recipients, Young currently posts a 3.88 GPA while working towards a degree in health and community wellness. Once graduated, the middle blocker plans to pursue a career in optometry and intends to attend optometry school in the near future. Playing in all 29 matches this season, Young finished her career having played in every possible match over the past four years (115). This year she totaled 192 points, 144 kills, a team-high 77 blocks, 19 digs and six assists. Her 371 career blocks places her fifth all-time at UWG. In her sophomore season, Young earned Gulf South All-Academic and CSC Academic All-District honors.
