GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The UWG women's basketball team fell on the road at Florida on Sunday afternoon, dropping the game, 85-41, to the Gators at the McConnell Center.
West Georgia (4-4) was outmatched by a much-bigger Florida (10-2) squad who scored 46 of their 85 points in the paint.
Asia Donald led UWG with 20 points and was 14-of-17 from the free throw line.
After scoring the game's first points at the free throw line, the Wolves found themselves down 8-2 at the game's first media after Florida went on an 8-0 run. UF's length made it tough for UWG to settle in, and the Wolves got a Sydne Tolbert layup at the 1:40 mark for their first field goal of the game, and UWG would trail 18-5 after one.
UWG's offense had a little better efficiency in the second quarter, scoring 21 points in the period. The Wolves shot 50 percent from the field in the second, and were led by Asia Donald who scored half of UWG's points in the first quarter. Donald scored nine of her 13 first half points from the free throw line.
Still the Wolves found themselves down 19 at the break, 47-26.
Florida opened the third on a 15-0 run, extending their advantage to 36 midway through the period. For the second half, UWG scored just 15 points with Florida scoring 38 second half points.
Behind Donald's 20 points, Sydne Tolbert was second in scoring for the Wolves, just missing double-figures with nine points.
Destiny Jones led the Wolves' rebounding efforts with eight boards.
West Georgia returns home on Wednesday, December 17 to host Wesleyan in a 2 p.m. non-conference clash at The Coliseum.

- Donald scored her third 20-point game of the season and she now has double-figures in all eight contests.
- UWG held Liv McGill, the nation's second-leading scorer (27.1 ppg) to 12 points on just 3-of-12 shooting from the field.
- The game featured 45 combined personal fouls. Both teams combined to shoot 60 free throws. UWG was 22-of-35 (62.9 percent) while Florida was 21-of-25 (84 percent).
