CARROLLTON, Ga. - Following a New Year's Day defeat, the UWG women's basketball team will now continue its road trip through the state of Kentucky, playing at Bellarmine on Saturday afternoon.
It'll be a 2 p.m. tip off from Louisville, Kentucky when West Georgia (7-5, 0-1 ASUN) takes on Bellarmine (2-12, 0-1 ASUN) in just the second matchup between the teams. Both are coming off of losses as the Wolves fell 69-53 to EKU on Thursday evening while the Knights fell to Queens at home in their ASUN opener.
West Georgia kept it close for three quarters in their ASUN opener at EKU, but the Colonels pulled away in the final quarter. UWG was led by Asia Donald with 21 points while Destiny Jones had 14.
The big number for the Wolves in the loss was turnovers as UWG committed 19.
Donald is UWG's leading scorer and is second in the ASUN in that category, averaging 16.3 points per game.
Bellarmine is off to a rough start in 2025-26 and have dropped nine straight games. The Knights come in as the ASUN's worst team in scoring offense (54.5) and scoring defense (79.2).
The leader for Bellarmine is Triniti Ralston who leads the Knights in scoring (13.9) and rebounding (6.1), although she did not play on Thursday in the loss to Queens. Kayce Hyman's 14 points led the Knights in that defeat.
It's just the second meeting between the Wolves and Knights and the first in Louisville. Last season, Bellarmine won the lone matchup of the season in Carrollton, 86-78, in overtime.
Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. from Knights Hall on the campus of Bellarmine. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
