CARROLLTON, Ga. - Thursday night could arguably be the biggest game hosted at The Coliseum for UWG women's basketball as they host Eastern Kentucky University in a 7 p.m. contest on January, 29.
It's definitely the biggest game at home of the Division I era as West Georgia (13-6, 6-2 ASUN) looks to avenge a road loss back on the first day of 2026 at EKU (17-4, 8-0 ASUN). The Colonels head to Carrollton atop the ASUN Standings as the only unbeaten team in the conference while the Wolves are second and currently represent the only two-loss team in the league.
The two teams met in the ASUN opener up in Richmond, with the Wolves playing from behind and in foul trouble for much of the game. EKU ended up winning by 16, but the Colonels' lead did not reach double-figures until the game's final quarter.
In that game, UWG's leading scorer, Jasmine Jones, played just 27 minutes because of foul trouble, and scored just three points.
The Wolves will now look to even the season series with EKU, and hand the Colonels their first loss in league play. It should be an offensive battle between the two teams as they rank one and two in the ASUN in scoring offense. EKU has the slight advantage in that category, averaging just under three points per game more than the Wolves.
Half of the ASUN's top-10 scorers will be on the floor in The Coliseum when the ball is tipped on Thursday afternoon. UWG's Jasmine Jones ranks third in the league at 15.2 per game, while Asia Donald is fifth at 14.5. Sydne Tolbert is averaging seventh in the league at 14.1 points per game, but in eight conference games, she is third in conference-only scoring at 15.9 per game.
EKU's Liz Freihofer is ninth in the ASUN in scoring 13.6 while Joseana Vaz is 10th at 12.6 per game. Additionally for the Colonels, Ndidiamaka Ndukwe is second in the league in conference-only scoring with 16.9 per game through eight league games. The former All-Region payer at Georgia Southwestern averages five more points per game against ASUN foes than she does for the entire season.
UWG enters the game as winners of 12 consecutive home games dating back to the season finale in 2024-25. The Wolves currently have the 16th-longest home winning streak in Division I women's basketball.
Eastern Kentucky is 6-2 on the road this season and has won four consecutive road games as they head to Carrollton for Thursday's showdown.
It's just the third time the Wolves and Colonels have met. UWG won the only matchup last season, knocking off the Colonels at The Coliseum, 71-64, on January 8, 2025.
Tickets remain available here and the game will be broadcast on ESPN+ for those fans outside of the Carrollton area.
Tip-time is set for 7 p.m. on Thursday from The Coliseum.
