UWG Women Look to Bounce Back Saturday Against Bellarmine

1/30/2026 10:15:00 AM

CARROLLTON, Ga. – It's another quick turnaround for the UWG women's basketball team as the Wolves prepare to host Bellarmine in a 2 p.m. Saturday conference matchup in The Coliseum.

A quick turnaround might be just what West Georgia (13-7, 6-3 ASUN) needs as the Wolves had their 12-game home winning streak snapped on Thursday and now welcome a Bellarmine (2-20, 0-9 ASUN) team that has dropped 17 straight.

West Georgia fell on Thursday night to EKU, the top team in the Atlantic Sun Conference and the league's only team unbeaten in conference play. Bellarmine fell by a 52-point margin at Queens. The Knights fell 100-48 and it was the fifth time they gave up triple digits in a game. The other four opponents to score 100-plus against Bellarmine are Louisville, Arizona, Notre Dame, and UWG.

In that first matchup with Bellarmine, UWG got a tremendous effort from Sydne Tolbert who scored a career-high 24 points in her hometown. Last night, Tolbert became the first player since Aysha Harris, who played from 2014-19, to record at least 500 points, 200 rebounds, 200 assists, and 100 steals. Tolbert, a junior, enters Saturday's contest with 716 points and is averaging a career-best 14.2 points per game.

Tolbert's points per game average ranks third on the team, but there isn't much separation between her and the leader Jasmine Jones and Asia Donald who ranks second. Jones scores 14.8 per game while Donald scores 14.5 and led the Wolves last time out with 18 points.

Bellarmine has been decimated by injuries in 2025-26, as their leading scorer hasn't played since December 7, and their second leading scorer hasn't played since the Wolves were in Louisville on January 3. Kayce Hyman is their active leading scorer at 9.0 per game. The Knights had to add four walk-ons to the roster this week, making their debut in the road loss at Queens.

The last time UWG and Bellarmine played at The Coliseum, it took overtime, but the Knights escaped with an 86-78 victory over the Wolves.

Tickets are available for purchase, and with the code THROWBACK, fans get general admission tickets for as low as $3.

The game will be broadcast on ESPN+ and tip-time is set for 2 p.m.
