Englehart Announces Nine Additions to Football Staff

CARROLLTON, Ga. - Head football coach Steve Englehart has assembled the majority of his 2026 football staff, formally announcing today the hiring of nine assistant coaches.

Englehart announced four members of the offensive staff and five coaches on the defensive side of the ball.

Fans can read bios for each of the hires below.

Devin Bice – OL/TE & Offensive Recruiting Coordinator
Bice comes to Carrollton after two seasons as the offensive line and tight ends coach under Englehart at Presbyterian. Like Englehart, Bice brings experience across all levels of NCAA football after beginning his coaching career at the high school level.

Last season, Bice helped Presbyterian to their best Division I season in program history.

"I am proud and honored to be joining the University of West Georgia Football family," said Bice. "I am ready to work, compete, and represent the Wolves Community with Pride."

Prior to his two seasons at PC, Bice was the offensive line coach and run game coordinator at former GSC rival West Alabama during the 2022 and 2023 seasons, and spent the 2021 season at Division III Centre College with the same title.

Bice saw success at both stops with his UWA offensive line ranked in the top 25 in the country in tackles for loss allowed, sacks allowed, red zone offense, and first downs. At Centre, they led the league in sacks allowed and ranked second in rushing with over 200 yards per game, as well as scoring and red zone efficiency.

His time at Centre also saw him develop a pair of All-Conference offensive linemen.

The Bonifay, Florida native spent the 2020 season as a graduate assistant at NC State after one season at Creekside High School.

In 2024, Bice was named a DII Coach on the Rise and in 2022 was named to Football Scoop's Minority Watch List of Rising Stars.

Bice is a 2013 graduate of The Citadel where he earned a bachelor's degree in Health, Exercise, and Sport Science. He later earned a Master's in Sport Management from Jacksonville.

Leroy Wilson – Running Backs
Leading the running backs room is Leroy Wilson who also comes with Englehart from Presbyterian where he was the Blue Hose running backs coach for three seasons.

"I'm overly excited for this opportunity in the great state of Georgia," said Wilson. "It's time to collab swag with hard work and dedication. Victory is earned and enjoyed by all."

He landed at Presbyterian after two seasons as the running backs and tight ends coach at West Virginia Wesleyan.

No stranger to UWG, Wilson competed and coached against the Wolves as a member of the West Florida program. Wilson was on staff in 2018 and 2019, winning a national championship in 2019. Wilson was a student-athlete on the first football team at UWF, and competed from 2015-17.

A native of Miami, Wilson earned a bachelor's degree in sport management from West Florida in 2020.

Tyus Alcorn – Wide Receivers & Co-Special Teams Coordinator
Alcorn will handle the wide receiver room while also serving as the Wolves' Co-Special Teams Coordinator.

Prior to coming to the City of Dreams, Alcorn spent two seasons at Gardner-Webb as the wide receivers coach. It's his seventh stop of his coaching career, and his second Division I post.

"Special thank you to Coach Englehart for this opportunity, I'm excited to get to work and be apart of this great university and community. Go Wolves," said Alcorn.

Before his stint at Gardner-Webb, Alcorn was at Tiffin for two seasons, Fairmont State for two seasons, Campbellsville for two seasons, Northpark for two seasons, and Trine for three seasons, coaching the wide receivers at all of those previous stops while carrying the special teams coordinator title at three of those stops.

Alcorn holds bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Campbellsville.

Nathaniel Walker – Assistant Wide Receivers
Walker will shift to assist in the wide receivers room under Coach Englehart.

This comes after helping coach QBs and working in operations for the Wolves during the 2025 season.

A native of Glen Allen, Virginia, Walker breaks into the coaching ranks after earning his Bachelor's degree in Sports Media from Butler in 2023.

Walker was a receiver at Butler from 2019 to 2023, appearing in 13 career games. His third season with the Bulldogs was the most fruitful, playing in every game while hauling in eight passes for 122 yards and a touchdown.

After graduation, Walker held multiple positions in the corporate world before making the jump into the coaching profession.

Michael Sewell Jr. - Defensive Backs & Defensive Pass Game Coordinator
After spending the 2025 season as cornerbacks coach at North Carolina Central, Michael Sewell Jr. will oversee the Wolves' defensive backs room while coordinating the UWG defensive pass game efforts.

"I'm honored and excited to join the West Georgia football family. The vision, culture, and direction of this program stood out immediately, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to contribute," said Sewell. "I'm ready to get to work, build strong relationships, and help move this program forward."

In 2024, Sewell was a defensive analyst at Miami. There, he helped mentor Second Team All-ACC safety Mishael Powell as well as Freshman All-American selection OJ Frederique. In recruiting, Sewell helped Miami ink the best recruiting class in the ACC and a class that ranked in the top-15 in the country.

His most recent stint at NCCU was his second as prior to spending the 2024 season at Miami, Sewell was the safeties coach at North Carolina Central, helping the program win a conference title and earn their first-ever FCS Playoff berth. He coached multiple All-Conference and All-American selections while at NCCU and the defense was the top red zone defense in all of FCS.

In 2023, Sewell gained valuable experience at the Pittsburgh Steelers training camp as part of the NFL's Bill Walsh Fellowship.

Sewell also has stops at East Carolina, Black Hills State, and his alma mater, New Mexico.

A former All-American at LA Valley Community College, Sewell finished his playing career as team captain at New Mexico, competing for the Lobos from 2017-2018.

Sewell holds a bachelor's degree in liberal arts from New Mexico and in 2022 he completed a master's degree in kinesiology, sports recreation & administration from North Carolina Central.

Tyree Thompson – Inside Linebackers
Joining Englehart's staff as the inside linebackers coach is Tyree Thompson who spent the 2025 season on staff at his alma mater, UCLA.

Thompson was the assistant linebackers coach at UCLA, where he mentored JonJon Vaughns to an honorable mention All-Conference selection. Last summer, he spent time at the Houston Texans training camp as part of the NFL's Bill Walsh Fellowship.

"I'm fired up to be in the Peach State where they live and breathe football," said Thompson. "All glory to God. Go Wolves!"

The 2024 season took Thompson to Tempe, Arizona where he was a graduate assistant helping coach the defensive line. That season, the Sun Devils won the Big XII Championship and appeared in the CFB Playoff while landing one player, CJ Fite, on the All-Big XII team.

In 2022 and 2023, Thompson was at Hawaii as a graduate assistant helping coach the linebackers.

Thompson's coaching career began at Hart High School where he was the Linebackers coach in 2021.

As a player, his collegiate career spanned six seasons and, in addition to his time at UCLA, included stops at Buffalo (2020), Los Angeles Valley College (2017) and Sacramento State (2015, 2016). In 2018, he racked up 55 total tackles while at UCLA. Six of his stops went for negative yardage.

A native of Pacoima, Calif., Thompson made the UCLA Athletic Director's Honor Roll four times before graduating with his bachelor's degree in sociology. Thompson then earned a master's degree in education from Hawaii.

Taking on the nickels and the important task of coordinating the scouting video, Kade Glenn comes to Carrollton after coaching at UTEP in 2024 and 2025.

Glenn was at UTEP as the assistant defensive backs coach while also serving as the lead defensive analyst. In 2024, Glenn coached All-Conference standout Kory Chapman.

"I'm excited to join West Georgia Football and be a part of this great coaching staff," said Glenn. "There's no better place to recruit and develop top talent. I can't wait to get to work, compete, and build something special!"

He's no stranger to the UAC as prior to his stop at UTEP, he was at Austin Peay as a member of their staff in 2023 when the Govs claimed the UAC title. He coached Chapman to an All-Conference nod that season while also seeing Xavier Smith earn Freshman All-American honors.

This will mark his third stop in the league as he was also previously on staff at North Alabama as a defensive graduate assistant.

A native of Jensen Beach, Florida, Glenn earned a bachelor's degree in marketing from Keiser University in 2020, completed his playing career off at The University of New Haven, and earned his master's  degree in Leadership Studies from UTEP in 2025.

Liam Smith – Defensive Line & Defensive Recruiting Coordinator
Coming to Carrollton from Presbyterian alongside head coach Steve Englehart is Liam Smith.

Smith was the Blue Hose defensive line coach and defensive recruiting coordinator, a position he will also hold for the Wolves. While at PC, he coached a total of three All-Conference selections on the defensive line in 2024 and 2025.

Prior to his stint at Presbyterian, Smith was at The Citadel where he began in 2020 as a quality control position before ultimately being promoted to defensive line coach and recruiting coordinator in 2021.

In 2021, he saw one of his players, Carson Hatchett, be named Freshmen All-American.

Smith's stop in Carrollton is the third with Englehart as he was also under him at Florida Tech in 2018 and 2019, coaching the Panthers' defensive line and outside linebackers. While there, he coached Adonis Davis to All-American honors, and Davis now serves as his assistant defensive line coach.

"West Georgia Football has a proud history, and Carrollton is built on toughness," said Davis. "I'm excited to honor the players who came before us and bring a defense that plays fast, physical, and relentless moving forward."
