It's the first United Athletic Conference game at home for West Georgia (1-5, 0-1 UAC) after opening league play with a road loss at EKU last week. Austin Peay (5-2, 1-1 UAC) is also coming off of a loss last week as the Govs dropped a 40-32 decision to second-ranked Tarleton State at home.

The Wolves' last time at home was a victory, however, as they closed their non-conference slate with the 49-7 win over Fort Valley State. It's Austin Peay's second trip to University Stadium, and the Govs came away with a 20-16 victory back in 2024, and also won last year's matchup in Clarksville to hold a 2-0 lead in the series.

UWG's offense comes into the game looking to improve in the run game, after rushing for just 79 yards against EKU last week. The Wolves have averaged just 72.8 rushing yards per game, but Christian Monfort has found the endzone three times through his first six career games.

Quarterback Colton FitzGerald threw for 282 yards in the loss, and has now thrown for 1,154 yards in his senior campaign. As a starter, FitzGerald is 72-for-120 (60 percent) for 990 yards in three games this year and 91-for-157 (58 percent) for 1,269 yards in four career starts.

Out wide, UWG has three receivers with over 200 yards, led by T.J. Lockley with 234, followed by DK Daniel with 225 and Brody Jones with 219. A fourth receiver, Malik Leverett, is just shy of 200 yards with 197.

West Georgia's defense has their hands full this week against the APSU offense and UAC Preseason Player of the Year Chris Parson, who has the Govs' offense ranked in the top-35 in total offense and scoring offense.

At quarterback, Parson ranks second in FCS football in passing efficiency while also being dangerous on the ground. The Brentwood, Tennessee native has six rushing touchdowns this season which is tied for sixth most among FCS quarterbacks.

In the passing game, his top target is Marvin Simmons who has 538 receiving yards in seven games and ranks 13th in the country in the category.

Defensively, Austin Peay leads the UAC in total defense and scoring defense, although the Govs are coming off a game in which the explosive offense of Tarleton State put up 418 yards and 40 points.

UWG's defense is led by the linebacker combo of Chidu Bekee and Lucas Naquin who have 42 tackles each and are both coming off of 10-tackle performances on the road at EKU.

The Wolves and Govs are set to kickoff at 2 p.m. from University Stadium on Saturday. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+ and on the radio broadcast can be found on KISS 102.7
