Wolves Set to Face North Alabama on the Road

2/10/2026 9:05:00 AM

CARROLLTON, Ga. - West Georgia men's basketball kicks off their final road stretch of the season taking on the North Alabama Lions this Wednesday (Feb. 11) at 7 p.m. in CB&S Bank Arena at Flowers Hall. The game's ESPN+ broadcast is tagged at the top of the page and on the team's schedule.

Coming off its first win in four contests, UWG (11-13, 5-7 ASUN) looks to carry the momentum into Florence when they take on a UNA team (7-16, 2-10 ASUN) that is currently riding a three-game losing streak.

Facing off a total of 72 times since the 1981-82 season, the UWG vs UNA series is one of the most storied rivalries the Wolves have with another ASUN opponent. Currently, West Georgia holds a tight 37-35 series lead, but the Lions are quickly closing the gap by winning the last three consecutive matches.

Coming off a career-high 18-point performance for UWG is junior forward JaVar Daniel. Not only did Daniel record a new personal best in the Wolves' latest win, he also pulled down 10 rebounds, swatted two blocks and recorded a steal while shooting 70 percent from the field and hitting all five of his free throws. Playing in 23 games this year, Daniel averages seven points, a tenth-best in-conference 5.7 rebounds and a ASUN-best two blocks per game, tying the big man 25th nationally in blocks average. Currently, his 46 blocks tie him for seventh in UWG history for most single-season blocks. With one more block, he will be tied for sixth in school history.

Another Wolf coming off a double-double performance is senior forward Shelton Williams-Dryden, who dropped 24 points and grabbed 11 rebounds vs Jacksonville. Recording double-doubles in five of the last six games, the Milwaukee native has achieved this feat 11 times over the course of the season, tying him 19th nationally. Currently, he averages an ASUN-best 9.5 rebounds per game while ranking second in points per game (20.5) and ninth in field goal percentage (49 percent). Williams-Dryden's averages tie him 26th nationally in scoring and in rebounding.

Looking at UNA, the Lions are led in scoring by senior forward Donte Bacchus, who is averaging 14.6 points and 5.6 rebounds per game while shooting an eighth-best in-conference 50 percent field goal rate. Looking at the 6-foot-7 forward's game logs, Bacchus has dropped 15 or more points in the last five contests. Not only is he a scoring threat, Bacchus has also recorded 22 steals this season, and recently tallied a career-high five steals vs APSU (Feb. 7).

Ranking third on the team in scoring with a 12.2 points per game average while pulling down a UNA-best 9.3 rebounds per game is 6-foot-9 forward Corneilous Williams. After scoring double-digits in five of the opening seven ASUN games, Williams has yet to reach that mark in the last four contests. Despite the slump, Williams still posts a stellar 55 percent field goal clip. Last season, his 63.5 percent field goal rate broke the North Alabama DI record.

Like with the Wolves, UNA has also shined with recording blocks. Currently, West Georgia's 5.04 blocks average leads the ASUN, while UNA ranks in second with a 4.13 average.

Tip off from Florence, Alabama, is set for 7 p.m. on Wednesday (Feb. 11). Live stats and streaming links are tagged at the top of the page.
