Women's Basketball Kicks Off Final Week of Regular Season at Queens

2/23/2026 9:38:00 AM

CARROLLTON, Ga. - The final week of the regular season for UWG women's basketball sends the Wolves on the road for Tuesday and Friday matchups, and on Tuesday, UWG will travel to Charlotte, North Carolina for a 7 p.m. matchup against Queens.

West Georgia (17-10, 10-6 ASUN) fell in a pivotal matchup against UCA on Saturday, and now look to gather momentum headed into next week's ASUN Tournament, and look to start that momentum against Queens (9-18, 3-13 ASUN).

UWG could potentially still end up as high as the three seed in the tournament, and can finish no worse than the league's seven seed. The biggest implication in seeding is that the top four seeds earn a first-round bye while seeds five through twelve play in the opening round at the UNF Arena.

In the first matchup this season with Queens, UWG never trailed, and led big through the majority of the game, going up by as much as 23 points before being outscored in the final quarter. The Royals cut into the lead, but UWG still came out on top, 77-64, with four players in double-figures.

Sydne Tolbert led UWG in that matchup with 19, and enters this matchup with the Royals second on the team in scoring at 14.1 points per game, ranking her seventh in the league.

Fellow guard Grace O'Gara had 17 points and five assists in that win, and is UWG's leader in assists on the season, averaging 3.4 per game which ranks fifth in the ASUN.

UWG's leading scorer heading into Tuesday's clash is Asia Donald. The sophomore from Hobart, Indiana led UWG with 17 points in Saturday's loss to UCA and is currently averaging the third-most points per game in the ASUN at 14.4.

The Royals got a big night from Ana Baretto when Queens and UWG met on January 24 as she scored 21. Baretto is second on the team in scoring coming into Tuesday night, averaging 9.1 per game while Jermany Mapp's 11.1 points per game paces the Royals. UWG limited Mapp to 3-of-11 shooting with 10 points when the Royals visited Carrollton.

On the glass, Queens is led by former Wolf Hannah Hicks at 7.4 rebounds per game. Hicks had five rebounds against the Wolves in January and did not score against her former team.

West Georgia leads the all-time series, 3-0, winning both matchups last season as well. In the 2024-25 matchup at Queens, UWG ground out a 56-49 victory behind a 12-point, nine-rebound performance from Destiny Jones.

Tuesday's game is set to be broadcast on ESPN+ and will tip at 7 p.m. from Curry Arena on the campus of Queens University in Charlotte.
