Dolphins Blank Wolves in ASUN Series Finale

CARROLLTON, Ga. – The UWG softball team was limited to just one run on three hits in Sunday's series finale, falling to the Jacksonville Dolphins, 4-1, at University Field.

West Georgia (10-19, 2-1 ASUN) was playing for a series sweep, but came up short to Jacksonville (16-13, 1-2 ASUN) who got a three-hit complete game from their ace Jacy Harrelson. The series win was the second ASUN series win for the Wolves after winning only one in their inaugural ASUN season.

Neither team got anything going through three with the teams only combining for one hit. That hit came from JU's Jaida Thomas in the third, but Jenna Samuel pitched around it and two walks in the inning to strand three Dolphins and preserve the scoreless tie.

Thomas broke that scoreless tie open with a two-RBI single in the fourth to put the Dolphins up by a pair.

Ella Oswalt broke up JU's no-no bid with an infield single in the fifth inning.

In the sixth, UWG had their first real scoring chance but the Wolves left them loaded.

JU then cashed in a two-out walk with a Sarah Beth Brake home run to extend their advantage to 4-0.

A leadoff triple by Madison McDonald led to the Wolves only run of the game as Zekylah Boyd knocked her in with a groundout in the final frame.

Megan Waites, Ella Oswalt, and McDonald had the three hits for the Wolves.

Samuel pitched a complete game, allowing only five hits, but surrendered four runs thanks to timely JU hits.

The Wolves are back in action in ASUN play next weekend traveling to Queens for a three-game series in Charlotte, North Carolina.
