JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - UWG softball was held to four hits and shutout in Sunday's series finale, dropping game three to the Jacksonville Dolphins, 2-0, on the road in ASUN conference action.
West Georgia (11-25, 3-6 ASUN) surrendered runs in the first and second and that was all Jacksonville (21-14, 6-3 ASUN) would need as Cacie Cutright took a tough loss in the circle, pitching a complete game with eight strikeouts and just the two runs allowed.
Three singles around a walk, produced the game's first run and then a leadoff solo shot in the second inning was the last of the offense as the two teams combined for just three hits over the final five frames of the game.
UWG's offense got half of their hits in the first inning, but could not score and then didn't get a baserunner until a fourth inning single and then repeated that in the fifth.
Jacksonville got three straight groundouts in the seventh to complete the sweep.
Mickey Coslor, Jenna Samuel, Madison McDonald, and Cutright had the four hits for UWG.
The Wolves return home next weekend, hosting Stetson on Friday and Saturday in an ASUN conference series.
