CARROLLTON, Ga. - The UWG softball team returns home for a three-game, non-conference series against the Gardner-Webb Bulldogs.
The Wolves had their schedule shifted to Friday and Saturday due to weather and as a result, the Wolves will only play three games against Gardner-Webb and will not play against North Alabama as previously scheduled. The series begins on Friday at 5:30 p.m. and concludes with a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday.
West Georgia (7-15) is coming off of a Wednesday loss to Samford while Gardner-Webb (17-6) comes into Carrollton on a six-game winning streak.
UWG managed just six hits against Samford with
Jenna Samuel recording two of those hits. Samuel has a .452 average coming into the weekend series. She leads the team with 22 RBIs and has slugged six doubles and three home runs.
Ella Oswalt is having a phenomenal start to her freshman season, batting .299 with six home runs and 16 RBIs. Of the 20 hits she has in 2026, 14 are for extra bases and she ranks ninth in the ASUN in slugging percentage at .701.
The quartet of Samuel, Oswalt,
Megan Waites, and
Madison McDonald are the top four averages on the team, and all have double-digit RBIs. They have combined for 62 RBIs and have accounted for 70 percent of the teams run production.
Calli Hardison now leads the team in ERA at 4.63 after tossing a complete game three-hitter in a win over George Mason. It was her 19th career game and she allowed three runs with only two earned.
The Bulldogs are hitting .364 as a team and led by Alli Stidham who is batting .444 with five home runs and 24 RBIs. In total, four Bulldogs are batting over .400 and that group includes Reese Collier who is batting .409 with a team-high 31 RBIs.
Glenna McLamb leads the GWU pitching staff with a .391 ERA and is 5-3 over a team-best 48.1 innings pitched.
Gardner-Webb and West Georgia met twice last season in Boiling Springs, NC in the season's opening weekend. The two teams split the games as part of a weekend tournament.
First pitch is set for 5:30 p.m. on Friday, March 6 from University Field in Carrollton.
