Bell Walks-Off Queens in Rule Rule Victory

CARROLLTON, Ga.- With the last swing of the 2026 season at Cole Field, David Bell delivered a walk-off solo homer to lift West Georgia to a 14-4 win and a series victory over Queens on Sunday.

Fueled by Patrick McCullough's four-hit performance, West Georgia (13-34, 10-14 ASUN) out-batted Queens (13-33, 9-15 ASUN) 12-6 today to run away with a 2-1 series win over the visitors. McCullough ended the day with four hits, four runs and five RBIs.

"Anytime you win a series, home or away, it's a great feeling," said head coach Jeff Smith. "Pat (Patrick McCullough) was swinging the bat extremely well, he has all year. He has done an outstanding job, and he does exactly what we need him to do."

After being held to just a pair of runs in yesterday's game two, the Wolves' offense opened the series finale firing on all cylinders. Before Queens could get an out in today's game, UWG plated three runs thanks to a McCullough RBI single, plus a walk and a hit-by-pitch with the bases loaded. Before the first was said and done, the Wolves led 4-0 after Anthony Cole added to the tally with a sacrifice fly.

The second frame would see UWG add two more runs to the total courtesy of an RBI base hit from Mason Cooper.

Coming off a pair of scoreless innings, Queens cut the Wolves' advantage to 6-2 with a two-run homer over the left field wall in the third. The frame ended with UWG up 7-2 after McCullough recorded another RBI base hit.

It would take until McCullough's next at-bat for the Wolves to add to their total. In the bottom of the fifth, the third baseman cracked an RBI double to center field to push the UWG advantage to 9-2. Still in the fifth, UWG extended its lead to 11-2 with a pair of RBI singles to right by Cole and Blane Schmitt.

In the following frame, Queens dashed the UWG advantage to 11-4 with another two-run homer. During the bottom of the sixth, McCullough continued his excellent weekend at the plate with a solo homer over the right field wall. With the bases loaded, QU walked a Wolf to balloon West Georgia's lead to 13-4.

With two outs tagged against the Wolves, Bell crushed a solo homer over the left field wall to secure UWG its first run rule win of 2026.

The Wolves take a small break before hitting the road to face Florida Gulf Coast next weekend in Fort Myers, Florida, in a three-game ASUN series.
