CARROLLTON, Ga. - Just days ahead of the 2026 football season the UWG Department of Athletics has announced a marquee matchup in a future home-and-home series with defending FCS National Champion Montana State. 

The Wolves will make the nearly-2,000-mile trek to Bozeman, Montana for a meeting at Bobcat Stadium in 2030 and Montana State will return to Carrollton in 2031, playing in Georgia for the first time in their program history that dates back to 1897. 

"When the University of West Georgia made the choice to transition to the ranks of Division I, we did so with a bold vision of maximizing the potential of not only our Athletics Department but our campus and broader community," said Director of Athletics Jason Carmichael. "Taking the bold step to challenge ourselves against a perennial national championship caliber team squarely fits our aspirations for all those aforementioned contexts. We couldn't be more excited to add this matchup to our opportunities to represent West Georgia." 

The 2030 meeting is slated for September 14 while the game in Carrollton in 2031 will take place on September 6 of that year. 

The matchups in both 2030 and 2031 are the first games to be announced in either season.
