CARROLLTON, Ga.- The University of West Georgia women's soccer team (0-6-2, 0-1 UAC) continues United Athletic Conference (UAC) play Sunday afternoon, traveling to Richmond, Kentucky, to face Eastern Kentucky (5-4-1, 1-0 UAC) at EKU Soccer Field. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m., with the match streaming on ESPN+.
West Georgia enters the matchup after falling 1-0 to North Alabama on Thursday night. The Wolves held the Lions to one goal despite North Alabama recording 19 shots and 10 shots on goal.
Sophomore goalkeeper Emily Sanabria continues to lead the UAC in several statistical categories. Sanabria has recorded 60 saves through seven starts, ranking first in the conference in total saves and saves per match at 8.57. She also ranks second with a .857 save percentage and fourth with a 1.54 goals-against average.
Sanabria recorded nine saves against North Alabama, including six in the opening half, keeping the Wolves within one goal throughout the match.
Eastern Kentucky enters Sunday's match after opening conference action with a 3-0 victory over Austin Peay. The Colonels' four non-conference wins were the most among UAC teams entering conference play, and their win over Austin Peay moved them into a tie for first in the UAC Blue Division following the opening night of conference action.
As a team, EKU leads the UAC with 18 total goals and ranks second in the conference with a 1.10 goals-against average.
Avery May has been one of the Colonels' top offensive threats, leading the UAC with 34 shots and 15 shots on goal. Her 3.44 shots per match and 1.50 shots on goal per match also rank first in the conference. May and Lauren Link are tied for third in the UAC with three goals each. Chiara Premoli is another offensive weapon for the Colonels, leading the conference in match-winning goals.
West Georgia created several opportunities in the second half against North Alabama, with Ava Timberlake and Berkleigh Jernigan each putting a shot on goal. North Alabama goalkeeper Emily Dorfman made three saves to preserve the shutout.
Sunday's match will mark the second meeting between West Georgia and Eastern Kentucky. The Colonels earned a 1-0 victory in the first meeting between the programs in 2024, with Chiara Premoli recording an assist in the match.
The Wolves will look to even the all-time series while continuing their first UAC season on the road.
