CARROLLTON, Ga.- The University of West Georgia women's soccer team (0-5-1) will close out its nonconference schedule Sunday when the Wolves travel to Kennesaw State (3-3-2) for a 6 p.m. matchup at Walens Family Field at Fifth Third Stadium.

Sunday's contest will mark the first meeting between the two programs in nearly 20 years. West Georgia and Kennesaw State have met twice previously, with the Owls holding a 2-0 advantage in the all-time series. Kennesaw State earned a 9-0 victory over the Wolves on Sept. 25, 2004, before recording a 4-0 win on Sept. 14, 2006.

West Georgia enters Sunday's matchup following a 4-1 setback against Georgia State Thursday night. Isa Ramirez scored the Wolves' lone goal of the match, finishing after a free kick by Noemi Casique in the 59th minute. Ramirez scored her first collegiate goal and joins Casique as the only two Wolves to find the back of the net this season. The goal also marked UWG's first at University Soccer Field since Oct. 25, 2025, against North Florida.

Despite allowing four goals against Georgia State, goalkeeper Emily Sanabria has been one of the United Athletic Conference's top goalkeepers throughout the season, leading the conference in saves per match at 8.0. She enters Sunday's matchup with 40 saves, which ranks second in the conference, while her .833 save percentage also ranks second in the UAC. Her 1.78 goals-against average ranks fourth in the conference. 

Kennesaw State enters the contest at 3-3-2 following a 2-1 road victory at Presbyterian on Thursday. The win extended the Owls' unbeaten streak to three matches after Kennesaw State previously played to draws against Tennessee Tech and Troy.

The Owls have been particularly active offensively in recent matches. Kennesaw State outshot Troy 21-15 in a 2-2 draw on Sept. 4, including a 16-8 advantage in the second half. Anabel Orozco contributed to both goals in that contest, scoring on a penalty kick before assisting Melissa Mert's equalizer.

Orozco continued her strong stretch against Presbyterian, scoring both Kennesaw State goals in the 2-1 victory. The senior midfielder has been involved in four goals over the Owls' last two matches, recording three goals and an assist during that span. 

Lara Kennedy has also provided a scoring presence for the Owls with three goals this season, while Julia Balchen has contributed two goals and three assists. In goal, fifth-year goalkeeper Charlee Bernal has emerged as Kennesaw State's primary starter and has recorded 32 saves this season.

Sunday's match will also serve as Kennesaw State's Alumni Game, welcoming former Owls back to campus for the matchup. The contest is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Walens Family Field at Fifth Third Stadium and will be streamed on ESPN+.
