CARROLLTON, Ga.- The University of West Georgia women's soccer team (0-4-1) returns to University Soccer Field Thursday night, welcoming Georgia State (3-2-1) for a 7 p.m. ET kickoff.

The Wolves enter Thursday's matchup looking to snap a four-match losing streak and return to the win column after falling 1-0 to Western Carolina on Senior Day. UWG held the Catamounts scoreless through the opening 45 minutes before Western Carolina broke through in the 69th minute. The Wolves continued to search for an equalizer but were unable to respond.

Despite the recent results, UWG has shown flashes of creating opportunities throughout the season. The Wolves have recorded 29 shots through five matches, with 12 finding the target, while the defense and goalkeeping have remained active with UWG recording 40 saves.

Emily Sanabria has played the most minutes in goal for the Wolves this season, totaling 315 minutes between the posts. She is tied for first in the UAC with 32 saves, ranks first in save percentage at .889, is second in goals-against average at 1.14 and leads the conference in saves per game. Sanabria has not seen the field since playing the first half of UWG's match against ETSU.

Siani Jones has played the last 135 minutes in goal for the Wolves, recording eight saves while posting a .800 save percentage and a 1.33 goals-against average. With both goalkeepers having seen significant action this season, keep an eye on who gets the start in goal Thursday night.

Georgia State enters Carrollton riding a three-match unbeaten streak. The Panthers began the stretch with a 3-0 victory over Wofford before playing Auburn to a 1-1 draw. Georgia State most recently defeated ETSU 2-1 at the GSU Soccer Complex.

Georgia State has been productive offensively through the first six matches of the season, scoring 15 goals on 89 shots. The Panthers have placed 42 shots on goal and have recorded six assists on the year. 

Aaliyah Faddoul leads the Panthers with seven goals and 16 points, while Sunniyah Tucker has added three goals and Brielle Delgado has contributed two goals and two assists. Faddoul was also a 2025 First Team All-Sun Belt selection and led Georgia State in goals and points last season, making her a key player for the Wolves to keep an eye on Thursday.

The Wolves will look to slow down a Georgia State attack that has scored 14 more goals than UWG this season while finding a way to generate more offensive pressure of their own. 

Thursday's contest marks another opportunity for the Wolves to turn things around at home, as it will be their final home match of the non-conference schedule. Admission is free for all West Georgia soccer matches. UWG will look to snap its four-match losing streak and earn its first victory of the season.
