The University of West Georgia utilizes the WxSentry and play will be suspended if lightning occurs within an eight mile radius. Resumption of play will occur 30 minutes following the last lightning strike. Coaches will receive a group text message when bad weather is in the area and will receive constant updates if a storm is within 15 miles of the course. Communication of bad weather will be sent to the cart GPS.

If lightning is in the area, all play shall cease upon the notification on the cart GPS system and golfers should return to the clubhouse as quickly and safely as possible. If they are not able to get back to the clubhouse, there is a small shelter between holes 7 and 15. Golfers are ultimately responsible for their own safety and should suspend play when dangerous conditions exist even if the alarm has not been sounded.

When returning to the clubhouse, players shall park their carts inside the cart barn, underneath the clubhouse.

All practice areas will remain closed until lightning is out of the eight mile radius. The tournament committee will decide, depending on the time of delay, if players will be allowed to use the practice facilities prior to restart.

When play is suspended during the middle of a tournament, the players is allowed to pick their ball up from the course. However, he must mark it with a specific marker so he knows exactly where the ball was when play ceased. If any weather conditions have moved the marker, the player must try to put the ball back in its original condition.

If the player has seen lightning or the committee has reported lightning, he is to leave the course immediately without marking or picking up the ball. If the ball is missing when play resumes or it has moved, the player may return it to its original position as best he can without penalty.

Tournament Format: 54 holes of team and individual stroke play. Each round team score is totaled by taking the low four scores from a five-person team.

Awards: Team Champion and Team Runner-Up will be awarded. Individual medalist, individual runner-up plus five all-tournament team members. Ties will be broken based on third round (or final round) score.

Team Tie: Tie will be broken by final round of each teams’ fifth player.

Individual Tie: If time permits, immediately following play, a playoff will determine a winner. Playoff starts on 18 and if still tied ater 18, holes 16, 17, and 18 will be used until a winner is determined. First player with a lower score will be the winner. 
* If time does not permit, a scorecard playoff will determine the winner. The final round scorecard will be used starting with hole 18, working backwards.

Meals/Coolers: Coaches are allowed to have coolers. The following meals will be provided throughout the event: Monday lunch and dinner, and Tuesday lunch. Boxed lunches will be available for pickup at 11:30 a.m. from the Clubhouse Restaurant. Please let the West Georgia coaching staff know if there are any dietary restrictions. Dinner will be provided at the clubhouse after he conclusion of play on Monday.

Athletic Trainers: Certified athletic trainers will be at the clubhouse at 7:00 a.m. prior to the shotgun start on Monday and Tuesday.

Spectator Carts: Spectator carts are available for purchase for $35. Since players will be using carts, the number of carts will be limited. Carts will be available on a first come, first serve basis. Oak Mountain will not reserve a cart prior to play. Carts must remain on the cart path at all times. Players may not be transported by spectator carts. 

Warm Up Assignments: Teams will have two spots each on the range and it will be designated by team signs. 

Scorecards and Pin Sheets: Will be in the players' carts prior to the shotgun start. Coaches are to collect scorecards after each round and turn them into the scoring area in the restaurant.

Notice to Competitors: play during the Matt Dyas Invitational will be governed by the USGA rules of Golf and supplements by the following local rules and the NCAA Division II Hard Card. Unless otherwise provided, penalty for breach of a local rule is two strokes.

All tournament play will be from the UWG Wolf tees

Embedded Ball: Rule is in effect through the green, a ball that is embedded in it’s own pitch-mark may be lifted, without penalty, cleaned and dropped as near as possible to where it lay but not closer to the hole.

One ball rule is NOT in effect 

Distance Measuring Devices: will be allowed without slope feature. Rule 4.3

Drop Zone: A drop zone will be located on hole #5 to the front tee box left of the lake. In the drop zone the ball may be placed. Hole #14 will not have a drop zone.

Out of Bounds: Defined by white stakes, posts and inside edges of roads/parking lots. Out of bounds stakes will mark the fence lines to houses surrounding the golf course. Driving range left of hole one is out of play. Additionally, on hole 16 there is a bridge near the green that will have out of bounds stakes to the right of the bridge.

Relief from Abnormal Course Conditions: Worn areas around cart paths. A player will be granted free relief from worn out areas near cart paths. If the players ball comes to a stop inside a hole near the cart path he may take a free drop outside the hole nearest point of relief no closer to the hole without penalty.  Rule 16.1 

Coaching: (2) Coach rule applies. Any coaching or player advise or assistance from parents or friends is not permitted and if observed by tournament officials or other coaches may result in disqualification of the player involved in that round. Coaches must be certified members of the institution. Spectators and Spectator Carts: Spectators are asked to remain on the cart paths during play and approximately 15 yards from players at all times. There may be no communication between the players and spectators that may be deemed advice. 

Range/Putting Green: spectators are not permitted to be on the range or putting green at any time. This will be enforced by the rules committee. 

Scorecards: Must be signed and attested. Each player is responsible for his reported hole-by-hole score.

Doubt as to Procedure: Procedure for Competitor In stroke play only, if a competitor is doubtful of his rights or the correct procedure during the play of a hole, he may, without penalty, complete the hole with two balls. The competitor incurs no penalty for playing the second ball. Rule 3.3
