Carrollton, GA – If there were any doubters to the legitimacy of North Alabama's number three national ranking in NCAA Division II, their numbers dwindled here Saturday night. North Alabama was dominant from start-to-finish in a convincing, 53-0 win over the West Georgia Wolves.
UNA took control of this one early and never let up. The Lions raced to a first quarter lead of 23-0, expanding that to 40-0 at halftime. In the second half, the Lions never relinquished their control and cruised to victory.
For the Wolves, yards were hard to come by. UWG posted but 177 total yards. Of that total, 108 were in the air; 69 were rushing. Quarterback #
Sean Gray# completed 11-of-22 for 89 yards. However, he and backup #
Kyle Padgett# each threw a pair of pass interceptions.
Quarterback A.J. Milwee paced North Alabama's attack. The senior signal caller completed 13-of-15 for 180 yards and two scores. Also, tailback David McCants rushed six times for 146 yards and two scores. He also caught a Milwee pass for a 30-yard Td.
The loss dropped West Georgia to 0-4 on the season, 0-2 in the Gulf South Conference. North Alabama improved to 4-0, 2-0 in the league.
UWG is idle next week, and returns to action October 4 at home vs. Henderson State. North Alabama returns home to battle Harding in a Thursday night TV game.
