Carrollton, GA - The UWG Wolves ran into an offensive juggernaut Saturday night at the Kimbrough Memorial Stadium in Canyon, Texas, falling to 21st-ranked West Texas A&M in the GSC/LSC 1st and 10 Challenge by a 63-23 count.
Turnovers were key in the game, as West Georgia had five fumbles on the evening with three of them recovered by West Texas A&M. On the opposite side, the Buffaloes stayed turnover-free in the contest.
West Georgia's offense came out firing, marching 62 yards to the West Texas A&M 11 on the opening drive of the game. But a penalty and a fumble pushed the Wolves into a fourth-and-long situation. The Buffaloes responded quicky with a score, going 71 yards in seven plays and finishing the drive off with a 36-yard touchdown run from Aaron Harris.
The Wolves moved the ball back to midfield, but the drive stalled, forcing a punt from #
James Dugan#. The Buffaloes took advantage again, driving 80 yards on 10 plays and scoring on a seven-yard touchdown pass from Dustin Vaughan to Anthony Johnson to give West Texas A&M a 14-0 lead.

Derick Seward# gave the Wolves their first score of the give with a five-yard blast up the middle.
After the UWG defense held the high-powered West Texas A&M offense on three-and-out, Trainor was sacked on the ensuing possession and fumbled, giving the ball back at the Wolves' 9 yard line. Two plays later, the Wolves trailed 21-7 on an eight yard pass from Vaughan to Johnson. WTAM added two more scores in the final seven minutes of the half to make the score 35-7 heading into the break.
West Georgia's second score of the game came at the 2:45 mark of the third quarter, as #
Quan Jones# scored on a two-yard run. Jones' eighth touchdown of the season capped an eight-play, 85-yard drive. The highlight of the drive was a 56-yard slant play from #

That made the score 49-14 and the Wolves both teams added one more score, with Jones picking up his ninth touchdown of the season to make the score 56-20. One the ensuing kickoff, West Texas A&M returned it 93 yards for a touchdown, making the score 63-20.
A #Lehman Howington# 42-yard field goal was the final scoring play of the game to make the final result.
