Carrollton, GA - Ten different UWG student-athletes completed their undergraduate work and participated in the December graduation this past Saturday, becoming the first group to receive a UWG Athletics stole to wear in addition to the West Georgia cap and gown during the graduation ceremony at The Coliseum.
"This is the first semester that we have presented the stole to our graduates on the occasion of this well-deserved accomplishment," said
David Haase, Assistant Athletic Director for Student Affairs and Academic Support. "This is the ultimate goal for any student-athlete within our athletic department."
The list of graduates includes three athletes who completed their UWG career on the field this fall. #
Brandon White# and #
Austin Trainor# were on that list from football and #Emily Reul# from volleyball. Additionally from football were a pair of athletes who completed their careers prior to this fall,
Kyle Bowman (2012) and Will Jones (2011).
Men's Cross-Country produced one graduate in
Dan Moffitt, who finished his career in the fall of 2012 and softball had
Kelsey Francen, who finished her playing career this past spring. Also finishing his playing career this past spring was catcher
Evan Hester from baseball. In addition, two graduates came from the sports medicine office, Adriana Badder and Doc Padgett.
