Carrollton, GA - The 2014-15 season continues in a Wednesday afternoon holiday matinee, as the West Georgia Wolves play host to the Carver Cougars at The Coliseum. The game was originally scheduled for 7:30 p.m., but the game time has since changed to 2 p.m.
UWG vs. Carver
The West Georgia Wolves and the Carver Cougars have been playing nearly a yearly contest since the early 2000s under then head coach Ed Murphy. Current head coach
Michael Cooney has continued that trend, as the Wolves and Cougars have played eight times, most recently this past spring, when the Wolves on 89-72 in The Coliseum.
Wolves' Offensive Explosion
Through the first three games of the 2014-15 season, Wolves' fans have been treated to an offensive explosion unlike any seen at West Georgia since the 2004-05 season. UWG has had back-to-back 100-point games now 17 times in school history, but before this past week, the feat had not been accomplished since the 2004-05 season.
100-Points, Continued
That year was also the last time that a UWG squad socred 100 points in three straight games, a feat that has only happened four times in the history of basketball at UWG. There have also now been 113 games with 100-points scored by West Georgia in school history.
Wolves lead the GSC in Scoring early
The West Georgia Wolves lead the Gulf South Conference in scoring this season, averaging 98 points per game through the first three. The scoring in the conference has been high this year, as four teams are averaging at least 89 points per game on the season. UWG, Shorter, Delta State and Valdosta State are all at the top in that category.
