UWG Men's Basketball Starts Season 5-0

Carrollton, GA - The University of West Georgia traveled to Montevallo, AL and captured their fifth straight win of the season by a final score of 96-89.

Today's win marks the second consecutive year the UWG basketball team has started their season 5-0. The Wolves continued to show their offensive dominance, nearly dropping 100 points in 3-of-5 games on the year.

Alex Abreu led the way for West Georgia, scoring 30 points on the night. He had a dominant performance, shooting 10-for-12 from the field and 6-of-8 from three point range. Abreu also added six rebounds and six assists.

Once again, Deonte Stocks had another solid game, scoring 24 points and adding three steals.

UWG led 55-45 at halftime, but the Falcons made it close late in the second half drawing just three points away from UWG's lead. West Georgia held a 92-89 lead, but because of some clutch free throw shooting down the stretch, the Wolves were able to come away with the close victory on the road.

The UWG Men's basketball team will be back in action this Thursday, December 4 at 8:30 p.m. as they play their first conference game of the 2014-15 season against Delta State University.
