Box Score Carrollton, GA - Willie Candler has made two starts at quarterback for the West Georgia Wolves. The results are two wins and two consecutive Gulf South Conference Freshman of the Week honors.
Candler was named Monday the league's top freshman performer for his efforts in last Saturday's 44-0, UWG win over Shorter. The Atlanta native completed nine-of-13 passes for 164 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions in the win over the Hawks. His quarterback rating for the game was 226.0. Also, for good measure, Candler ran 10 times for 51 yards.
In his two games as UWG's starting signal caller, Candler has posted impressive numbers. He has completed 23-of-36 passes for 345 yards, five touchdowns, and no interceptions. Candler's QB rating is 190.2 for his two games as a starter.
UWG is now 6-3, and preparing for the 2016, regular season home finale this Saturday. The Wolves face the Florida Tech Panthers in a 2 p.m. kickoff on Ra-Lin Field.
