UWG Football Selected for Three ESPN3 Appearances

CARROLLTON, Ga. – Three games on the West Georgia Wolves' 2018 football schedule have been selected for national or regional webcasts.

UWG's October 6 home game against North Greenville and the November 10 regular season finale at Valdosta State were selected as part of the GSC-TV Live package for 2018. Also, the October 13 road game at West Florida was picked for the NCAA Division II national webcast package.

ESPN3 is ESPN's live multiscreen sports network, a destination that delivers thousands of exclusive sports events annually. It is accessible on computers via ESPN.com and on smartphones, tablets and streaming devices through the ESPN app. The network currently is available nationwide at no additional cost to fans who receive their high-speed internet connection or video subscription from an affiliated service provider. It also is available at no cost to U.S. college students and U.S.-based military personnel via computers, smartphones and tablets connected to on-campus educational and on-base military broadband and Wi-Fi networks.

For West Georgia, the presence of television cameras and ESPN banners is nothing new. The Wolves appeared twice as part of last season's GSC package, which featured home wins over Valdosta State and Shorter. The game at West Florida will mark the West Georgia's first appearance on the national Division II Football Showcase since the 2015 game at Delta State.

West Georgia teams have made 33 previous television appearances in the program's history, and UWG has a record of 17-16 in front of the TV cameras. The program's first two appearances were both CBS-TV games, and came during the 1982, Division III title season. That includes the national championship game victory over Augustana.

West Georgia didn't make it back on TV for 18 seasons. UWG was featured on TV three times during the 2000 campaign as part of the Gulf South Conference's regional package, featured on Comcast Sports Southeast, and other cable channels. That season's TV games included road wins over Ouachita Baptist and North Alabama, and home loss to Valdosta State.

The current GSC-TV Live package began in 2005. West Georgia has been part of the TV package at least twice each season since its inception.
