CARROLLTON, Ga. - Two UWG standouts on the gridiron this past fall have earned All-American honors, as released this week by D2Football.com. Seniors
Korie Rogers and
Auzoyah Alufohai were recognized by the media polling company as Honorable Mention All-Americans for their performance in the 2019 season.
The honors culminate a solid 2019 season for the two West Georgia defenders, beginning with First Team All-Gulf South Conference honors, as voted by league coaches. Rogers was additionally named First Team All-Super Region 2 in postseason voting, and the All-American honors are the second in his career. He was named as an All-Conference, All-Region, and All-American performer following the 2018 season as well.
Rogers closed out his collegiate career as a linebacker with 206 total tackles, including 17 tackles for a loss. That number was bolstered heavily by his senior campaign, when the Buford, Ga. native had eight tackles for a loss and he was second on the team in tackles with 63. He averaged 5.7 tackles per game on the year, good for 13th in the league in 2019.
Alufohai, a senior defensive tackle from Alpharetta who transferred to UWG in 2019 from Kennesaw State, finished his collegiate career by ruling the middle of the line of scrimmage throughout his only year with the Wolves. He had 31 tackles on the year, including four tackles for a loss and two sacks. He had three forced fumbles and had a solo tackle on the first play from scrimmage of the 2019 campaign.
Both Rogers and Alufohai, along with fellow seniors
Chad Price and
John Hurst, will continue preparations for the upcoming NFL Draft. Alufohai will be showcasing his talents at the East-West Shrine Bowl in St. Petersburg, Fla. on January 18. He is one of three players in this year's game who did not play as a senior at a Division I institution.
