Cowart Breaks School Record in Dahlonega

Final Round 66 Sets 18 Hole Record, 54-Hole Mark Falls

DAHLONEGA, Ga. – Records fell on Tuesday at Achasta Golf Club in Dahlonega as Ainsley Cowart fired a final round 66 to set a school record, and broke the 54-hole school record with a 208, helping the Wolves to a 10th place finish at the LeeAnn Noble Memorial.

After the 66 gave her an eight-under total of 208, Cowart climbed from fifth to second on the leaderboard. The 66 ties a tournament record, and her 208 is second lowest in the history of the LeeAnn Noble Memorial, behind the new record of 205, set this week by Ebba Hellman of Limestone.

"She was just consistent. It wasn't overly dramatic. She hit fairways and she hit greens and she made putts. That's the way it should be," said assistant coach Kristen Golightly. "It was a good round of golf and it was fun to watch."

The day didn't begin particularly well for Cowart as she started her day on the ninth-hole with a bogey, but was nothing short of magnificent over the final 17 holes. Cowart got back to even par with a birdie at the 11th, and then went birdie, par, birdie, and birdie to turn to the front side at three-under.

On the final eight holes, Cowart would birdie two par threes and then birdie a par five to get to six under. On her final hole, Cowart left a putt inches short for a 65.

Maddy Schultz had a decent Tuesday as well, tying a career-best 71 in the final round. Schultz made four birdies and three bogeys on the day to finish tied for 24th place.

Katherine Densmore made three birdies on the day, finishing inside the top-50 at a 47th-place tie after a final round 78. Kamryn Roberts shot a 79 on Tuesday, and finished in 72nd place.

Wrapping up play for the Wolves was Michelle Bagsic who shot a final round 82 and finished in 76th place.

As a team, the Wolves shot their lowest round of the season, at 294, to finish 10th against one of the toughest fields they will see all year.

"Throw in Maddy's 71 and that's seven-under with two scores," added Golightly. "So, we'll be fine if we can just get a few more solid scores in there."

West Georgia has one fall tournament remaining in Saint Leo, Florida next week.
