CARROLLTON, Ga. - Head football coach Joel Taylor announced today the hiring of Dane Stevens as the University of West Georgia football program's offensive coordinator.
 
"Dane is one of the bright young minds in this profession and I'm excited to have him run our offense, and I know it will be fun to watch," said Taylor. "His passion and enthusiasm will show up in how our kids play. The Wolves will run fast on offense!"
 
Stevens, a Georgia native, returns to his home state after stops at Southern California and most recently, Ole Miss.
 
"I'm so excited to be a part of the West Georgia family and to join Coach Taylor's staff," said Stevens. "I believe this is a special place with unlimited potential and we're going to bring an exciting brand of offense with a simple philosophy. All gas, no brakes."
 
For the past two seasons, Stevens has been under the direction of Lane Kiffin at Ole Miss, serving as a senior analyst and assistant quarterbacks coach for the Rebels. In his two seasons in Oxford, the Rebs went a combined 19-7 including this season's 11-2 mark that featured a Peach Bowl victory.
 
Stevens was instrumental in the development of Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart who threw for over 3,300 yards in 2023 with 23 touchdowns and just five interceptions.
 
At USC, Stevens began as a student assistant under Steve Sarkisian and then became a graduate assistant at his alma mater under Clay Helton, eventually becoming an analyst for his final two seasons in Los Angeles. He worked with the tight ends as a GA in 2017 before working with the quarterbacks from 2018-19, helping develop the likes of JT Daniels and Kedon Slovis.
 
Prior to the 2020 season, Stevens was promoted to offensive quality control analyst where he spent two seasons, helping the Trojans offense rank 11th in the country in passing yards while Slovis earned All-Pac-12 honors while leading the league in completions, passing yards, and completion percentage.
 
Originally from Marietta, Stevens spent one season as a player at USC before medically retiring and beginning his coaching career. Stevens earned his bachelor's degree from USC in social sciences in 2016 and then earned a master's in communication management, also from USC.
 
Stevens will also serve as UWG's quarterbacks coach along with his offensive coordinator duties.
