Taylor Tabs David Whitlow as UWG's Wide Receiver Coach

CARROLLTON, Ga. - Coaching the UWG wide receivers in 2024 will be David Whitlow, as his hiring was announced today by head football coach Joel Taylor.
 
A former quarterback and defensive back, Whitlow has gained valuable experience in the Southeastern Conference in his young coaching career, serving most recently as a Wide Receivers Graduate Assistant at Ole Miss. Whitlow coached alongside newly named UWG offensive cooardinator, Dane Stevens in Oxford.
 
"I'm glad to have Coach Whitlow come aboard. Our guys will love the energy and passion he will bring everyday," said Taylor. "He will do a great job with our wide receiver room and I can't wait to see that group grow under his leadership." 
 
Prior to his time in Oxford, Whitlow serpent two years at Auburn, serving the Tigers' in the same position following time as a graduate assistant in the strength and conditioning department as well.
 
"I'm extremely humbled and blessed to be able to serve in the capacity of wide receivers coach at the University of West Georgia. I'm excited to be a part of Coach Taylor's vision for this program," said Whitlow. "I'm even more fired up for the opportunity to aid in the development of our players and help engineer an exciting, proven offense here at UWG."
 
Whitlow was on the football team at Alabama State from 2015-2019, originally arriving as a quarterback for the Hornets before ending his career as a defensive back.
 
The Montgomery, Alabama native earned an undergraduate degree at ASU before earning a master's in adult education from Auburn University.
