CARROLLTON, Ga. – Another road test in the Gulf South Conference awaits the UWG tennis team as the Wolves travel to Montevallo for a 2 p.m. match on Thursday, March 14.
West Georgia (3-5, 0-3 GSC) is still searching for their first GSC victory, but have played three tough opponents through the first three league matches in AUM, Lee, and West Florida.
Montevallo (3-5, 1-2 GSC) have dropped four straight matches and both UWG and Montevallo are coming off 5-2 losses to nationally-ranked West Florida, although UM is matched up with Valdosta State today. The Falcons' lone win in conference play came against Christian Brothers back in mid-February.
As for the Wolves, the two points in their last match came from singles wins by
Andrea Medel and
Rebeca Lopez. Medel and
Sophie Mnich did win their doubles match in number one doubles, but second and third doubles were defeated in that match.
Karla Menendez remains the leader in singles wins for UWG with four, but a quartet of Wolves: Lopez, Mnich, Calle Stanfield, and
Lea von Kozierowski all have three. Menendez and
Luna Mouton have paired up for a team-high four doubles victories.
First serve for Thursday's match is set for 2 p.m. from Montevallo, Alabama.
