UWG Football Gameday: 2024 Need to Know

CARROLLTON, Ga. - UWG Football kicks off the 2024 season at 6 p.m. Saturday, August 31, against the Samford Bulldogs at University Stadium. UWG will also host North Alabama (Sept. 28), Austin Peay (Oct. 5), Shorter (Oct. 19), Southern Utah (Oct. 26), Lincoln (CA) (Nov. 2) and Tarleton State (Nov. 9) at University Stadium this season. 

Wolves fans can expect new experiences to come along with the new season. The first game of the 2022 season will kick off with a schedule magnet giveaway to the first 500 fans and conclude by lighting up the night sky with a fireworks display. UWG Athletics encourages fans to start making game day plans by keeping these important details in mind. 

1. Buy tickets early

UWG Athletics encourages fans to purchase their tickets in advance. Individual single-game tickets start as low as $10 in general admission with options available up to $50 on The Pack Porch overlooking the South End Zone of the stadium. 

Season tickets for the 2024 UWG Football season are still available starting as low as $60. Season ticket packages will feature all seven home games and provide the most cost-effective way for fans to attend games during the 14th season at University Stadium.  Discounted group tickets and fan experiences are available for a minimum purchase of 15 tickets, and tailgating will be a hot commodity on each gameday throughout the 2024 season.

2. Wolves Wear Red
UWG Athletics urges fans to wear their best Wolves red to the home opener and to look out for the color in the stands each week. Fans are encouraged to be seen in red, purchase tickets in advance, and participate in the pre-game activities to make the best of their game day experience. 

Show your Wolves spirit every Friday before gameday with a Big Blue Friday adventure. For Game 1 in University Stadium, the Big Blue Friday will take place at Chick-Fil-A on Bankhead Highway on Friday, August 30 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Visit UWG Outfitters on campus or in the brand new Outfitters at Univesrity Stadium on Touchdown Plaza. 

3. Clear Bag PolicyClear Bag
Brand new to events at the University of West Georgia and at University Stadium is a clear-bag policy in effect for all events. Small clutch purses, measuring no larger than 4.5" x 6.5", with or without a handle or strap, are allowed, in addition to either the 12" x 6" x 12" clear tote bags or the one-gallon freezer-style bags. Full Clear Bag Policy

4. Postgame Fireworks

The 2024 season will start with a bang as the Wolves light up the night sky over Carrollton with a postgame fireworks display. Fans are encouraged to move postgame to the West Stands for the best view of the Fireworks display. 

5. Pre-Game Fun

Nothing says football season like a tailgate with friends and family. Gates open 90 minutes before the Wolves' kickoff and fans are encouraged to come down to the UWG Athletics Complex early and hang out.

Pick one of these three tailgating options to make the best of your experience: Lot B Parking, The Wolf Walk, and the Wolves Tailgate Lot. Learn more about these options here

For students, The Hill Student Zone Tailgate will feature free interactive games, music, a big screen television and much more. The Hill area will open four hours prior to kickoff.

Join UWG Alumni & Friends under the big white tent as we get ready to cheer on our UWG Wolves for the first Division 1 home football game of the 2024 season! UWG Alumni & Friends Tailgate entry is $25 for ages 13+, $15 for ages 6-12, and free for ages 5 and under. Registration fees include 2 drink tickets for the beer and wine bar (21+ only), buffet meal, and non-alcoholic beverages. Register Here

6. Students 

Student access to UWG Football is provided free of charge to all active UWG students with a valid 917 number. Student passes are good for the entire 2024-25 academic year and provide each student with free access to each game. 

7. Parking at UWG
There will be a charge for all parking on the UWG Athletics Complex for football games during the 2024 season. Fans are encouraged to purchase your pass ahead of time for the Samford game at this link. Season passes are available for Lot B parking for $10-$60 and all other external lots are $5. To purchase a spot on the Wolf Walk, the cost is $50 and $25 for the Wolves Tailgate Lot. Visit the Tailgating Page for more details. A reminder that University Stadium is working to become a cashless facility, so pre-purchase is a fantastic way to get to your spot quickly. 

8. Junior Wolves
The Junior Wolves is the best way for the youngest fans of the University of West Georgia to enjoy gameday. Beginning two hours before each game, the Junior Wolves Fun Den opens with bounce houses, games, and great fun as we get ready for kickoff. Thirty minutes before the game, all Junior Wolves are encouraged to come to the Southeast Corner of University Stadium to join the National Championship-winning UWG cheerleaders and lead the UWG football team onto the field during runout. 9. Visit the Enhanced Beer Garden and UWG Outfitters
Touchdown Plaza has long been great place for fans to enjoy a pregame tailgate and an in-game drink. This year, the Beer Garden on Touchdown Plaza has received a facelift thanks to one of the newest UWG Corporate Partners in Flex TC. Touchdown Plaza will not only serve as a great spot for watching the game from the Beer Garden, but it is also where fans can get the newest UWG merch at the UWG Outfitters on-site store. 10. UWG Crowdfunding 50/50 Raffle
Returning for a second season will be the UWG 50/50 Raffle with a twist, as this year's 50/50 raffle will roll over throughout the season. One lucky fan at the end of the season will be selected as the 2024 50/50 Raffle winner, taking home half of the pot that builds throughout the season. The raffle will be cashless inside the stadium.
