Box Score CARROLLTON, Ga. – The UWG soccer team had a tough night and fell 4–0 on the road to High Point on Thursday night.
The Wolves started strong with a high defensive line. However, in the 21st minute, Lindsey DeHaven created a play that ended with the ball in the back of the net.
As the Wolves tried to build momentum after the goal, High Point exploited UWG's struggles, scoring a second goal in the 29th minute. Alex Murphy led her team into halftime with a 2-0 lead.
By the end of the first half, the Panthers had taken 12 shots and controlled 70% of possession. In contrast, UWG managed only 4 shots and held just 30% of possession, with most of it in their defensive area.
Coming into the second half, the Wolves increased their pace and pressure on the Panthers. In the 50th minute, Kenna Kay created a great play, but unfortunately, the Wolves couldn't convert it into a goal. Minutes later, Avery Heeb made a crucial save in a one-on-one situation, preventing High Point from scoring again.
The game slowed down, with both teams exchanging possession, but in the 65th minute, Sabba Haghgoo broke through the Wolves' defense and extended the Panthers' lead to 3-0.
High Point added a fourth goal in the 74th minute.
UWG will now shift their focus to facing Alabama A&M this Sunday, September 1, in Huntsville, Alabama. Kickoff is set for 3:00 p.m.
