CARROLLTON, Ga. - It's Nationals week for the UWG Cheerleading Program, as head coach Nicole Nichols and her squads head to UCA Nationals in Orlando, Fla. this weekend. Tuesday closed out a week of home events in front of family, friends, and local supporters for the Wolves that included the annual Family & Friends Day for UWG Cheer on Sunday as well as performances at local high schools. 

Nichols, her staff, and the UWG cheerleaders have been working nearly non-stop in preparation for this year's event, as the Wolves look to add championship hardware to the 29-trophy collection currently residing with the University of West Georgia. UWG has won 29 championships since the 2001 season, and the Coed squad is a defending national champion. The All-Girl squad finished as a runner-up last year in the Division I competition. 

This year's competition kicks off on Friday with the Partner Stunt competition and three teams will be in semifinals action on Saturday afternoon at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. The weekend will conclude on Sunday with the finals for all three team events. West Georgia will compete with eight different partner stunt groups on Friday, then the Small Coed Team, All-Girl, and Large Coed teams will compete throughout the remainder of the weekend.
