CARROLLTON, Ga.- The stage is set for an electric Halloween meet as West Georgia competes at the ASUN Championships on Friday, October 31 beginning at 8 a.m. in Jacksonville.
On the men's side, graduate standout Griffin Stephens has been the model of consistency all season long, leading the Wolves in every meet and continuing to rewrite the UWG record books. He owns the five fastest times in program history and will look to chase down his personal best of 24:45.8. His season best 24:56.1 at the Upstate Invitational earned him a 17th place finish against a stacked field, setting the stage for his final collegiate race.
Sophomore Noah Anderson has been a steady force right behind Stephens, earning a season best 25:10.7 for 27th at Upstate and finishing in fifth at Twilight at PR'Ville. His constant improvement throughout the season makes him a Wolf to watch in the ASUN Championship.
Senior Felipe Barrios hit his stride at Upstate as well, running a season best 26:17.7 to finish 65th, while freshman Alex Njoroge was right behind with a time of 26:25.8 to finish 73rd.
Sophomore Aiden Thaxton posted a season best 26:33.54 at Twilight to finish 10th overall, Thaxton looks to continue to show improvement in the final meet of the season.
Rounding out the top performers for the Wolves is sophomore Abenezer Woellore, who posted a season best 26:38.7 at the Upstate Invitational, sophomore Solomon Johnson recorded a time of 26:43.7, and in a meet filled with season best, junior Jesse Baldwin earned a time of 27:05.9.
For women's cross country, junior
Kristal McQueen has led the pack, leading the Wolves in every meet this season except one. Her season best 18:39.0 came at the Upstate Invitational, where she finished 32nd and proved herself as a steady frontrunner.
Just a step behind, Reatta Danhof has delivered impressive performances all season, including an individual victory at Twilight at PR'Ville, where she won the women's 5K with a time of 18:57.10, a new personal record.
Seniors Catherine Greer and Kathrin Maurer both earned season best at Twilight. Greer ran 19:34.63 for fifth place and Maurer was close behind with a time of 19:36.88 to earn sixth place.
Rounding out the Wolves' top performers, junior Linda Rivero posted a season best time of 20:28.7, while junior Jordan Jarnot recorded a 20:41.2, both achieved at the Upstate Invitational.
