CARROLLTON, Ga. - The UWG women's basketball team is set for a Thanksgiving week matinee on Tuesday as the Wolves return home to host the Western Carolina Catamounts in the Coliseum at 2 p.m.
It's been over 10 days since West Georgia (2-2) played at home, and UWG lost their last outing, a 68-60, road defeat at the hands of Georgia Tech, but on Tuesday the Wolves look to get back in the win column and avenge an overtime loss from a season ago against Western Carolina (2-4).
The Wolves' road trip to Georgia Tech last week saw the Wolves trail by just five with less than two minutes remaining before a three-pointer made it an eight-point margin.
But now the Wolves return to The Coliseum, where they are 2-0 on the year with wins over Gardner-Webb and Alabama State, looking to go into Thanksgiving break on a positive note.
Head coach Joanna Reitz's squad has shown they can score it in a multitude of ways throughout their lineup, with the entire starting five averaging at least 8.0 points per game including a pair of Wolves ranking two and three in the ASUN scoring leaders in Asia Donald and Jasmine Jones.
Donald, a transfer from Indiana State, has scored no less than 16 points through four games this season, and ranks second in the league at 17.8 points per game.
The Carrollton native, Jones, is third in the league at 17.3 points per game, is shooting 46.9 percent from the field, and has hit 17 three-pointers through four games. Her 4.25 three-pointers per game is currently third in all of Division I basketball.
Destiny Jones, the stellar sophomore who was a Freshman All-ASUN selection last season, picked up right where she left off through three games in 2025-26. Jones leads the ASUN in rebounding at 9.7 per game while also scoring 12.7 per game. Her last time out at home, Jones recorded her 10th career double-double in the win over Alabama State.
The backcourt duo of Sydne Tolbert and Grace O'Gara has been superb thus far as well with Tolbert scoring 11.3 points per game and O'Gara adding 8.3. Against Georgia Tech, O'Gara had a career-high 16 points and dished out eight assists. For the season, O'Gara is averaging 6.7 assists per game which leads the ASUN while Tolbert's 4.3 assists per game is third in the league.
The Catamounts enter Tuesday's contest on a four-game skid and are looking for their first road win of the season. WCU's two wins on the season were against non-Division I opponents, Virginia-Lynchburg and Tusculum, to start the season. Since then, the Catamounts have fell to Campbell, sixth-ranked Oklahoma, UNC Asheville, and Wake Forest.
Like the Wolves, WCU has five players averaging over 8.0 points per game and are led by Ally Holifield at 15.3 points per game. Ary Dizon is second on the team in scoring rebounding with 10.0 points and 6.4 rebounds per game.
On the glass, the Catamounts' Joyce Mulumba leads the way with 7.3 rebounds per contest.
The Wolves and Catamounts met last season in Cullowhee and played an epic, 81-76 overtime game that went WCU's way. Destiny Jones scored her career-high against WCU in her freshman season, dropping 24 in the loss while shooting 10-of-16 from the field.
Tuesday's contest tips at 2 p.m. from The Coliseum. Tickets can be purchased here. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+ with Patrick Eidson and Parker Gore on the call.
