The University of West Georgia women's basketball team will put its undefeated home record to the test this Wednesday as it hosts UNC Wilmington at The Coliseum.
West Georgia (3–2) comes into its matchup with the Seahawks riding the momentum of a big 69–60 win over Western Carolina last Tuesday, improving the Wolves' home record to a perfect 3–0. Four players scored in double figures, and the team delivered a defensive masterclass in the second half, holding the Catamounts to just 4-of-28 shooting from the field.
As the Wolves prepare for UNCW, they'll look to keep building their offensive rhythm, relying on a variety of players who have stepped up with key contributions night after night.
The floor general,
Grace O'Gara, has been on a stellar run lately, posting back-to-back career highs against Georgia Tech and Western Carolina. She poured in 16 points against the Yellow Jackets, then followed it with a 19-point performance versus the Catamounts.
Adding to that momentum, standout newcomers
Asia Donald and
Jasmine Jones continue to pace the ASUN, ranking second and third in scoring with 16.8 and 16 points per game. Their consistency has been a major catalyst for West Georgia's early-season success, providing steady production and leadership on both ends of the floor.
Destiny Jones and
Sydne Tolbert have also stepped up offensively, combining for 39 points across the last two games and giving UWG even more balance in its scoring attack.
The Seahawks enter this matchup with a 3-3 record, coming off wins against NC Central, Presbyterian, and a 69–59 victory over conference foe Queens on Sunday. Their three losses have come against East Carolina, Coastal Carolina, and Gardner-Webb. UNCW is riding a two-game winning streak and will look to extend it this Wednesday in the City of Dreams.
The Seahawks have several players averaging over eight points per game, led by Rori Cox and Kylah Silver. Cox leads the team with 15.3 points per game, while Silver follows closely with 14.8. Silver also leads the team with 7.3 rebounds per game.
The Wolves and Seahawks faced off on the hardwood last season in Wilmington in a tightly contested matchup, with West Georgia coming out with the victory 70–66.
Destiny Jones starred for the Wolves, recording a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds while shooting an impressive 60% from the field.
