Wolves Drop Game Two to JU

CARROLLTON, Ga. - West Georgia baseball fell 9-3 to the Jacksonville Dolphins in game two today at Cole Field, splitting the series at one apiece with the finale set for Sunday at 1 p.m.

With UWG (16-16, 7-7 ASUN) being out-hit 11-6 combined with a six-run second frame by the Dolphins (18-16, 8-6 ASUN), JU grabbed a Saturday victory over West Georgia. Six of Jacksonville's 11 hits occurred during this frame.

After the game, head coach Jeff Smith said, "I thought Jacksonville wanted it more, they out-competed us today. They were locked in and focused. We need to do a better job of staying focused. I told the guys that we need to come out every day with the desire to compete. It doesn't matter who your opponent is or what happened the game before, you need to want it. This game isn't easy. There are going to be ups and downs, and you need to be able to fight through it all. We are excited to get back at it tomorrow and compete."

In the fourth, Cole was relieved by junior righty Evimeal Qulies. Through three innings, Cole struck out three batters and allowed six runs.

During the sixth, the Dolphins extended their advantage to 8-0 on a two-run RBI to left field. With the bases loaded, Qulies rotated out senior righty Will Dean.
