Carrollton, Ga. – The UWG baseball team dropped game two against the North Florida Ospreys this afternoon in an ASUN conference series matchup.
The result of the game was a 5-3 loss, pulling the Wolves record to 17-19 (ASUN 8-9), and improving the Osprey's record to 20-19 (ASUN 9-8).
Seth Dudley started off on the mound for West Georgia and pitched 5 innings. Dudley's performance resulted in 3 strikeouts and only 2 earned runs.
Despite striking first with another impressive outing by
Blake Bradford, West Georgia couldn't hold off North Florida's bats in the third inning.
"The third inning kind of hurt, where we gave up three runs, two of them unearned," head coach
Jeff Smith said.
In Bradford's 2 at-bats, he secured 1 run, 2 hits and 2 RBI's.
On the defensive side of the diamond, the pitching by
Mason Phillips and
Dosie Drakeford kept the Wolves in the game. In just 2.2 innings, Phillips recorded 5 strikeouts and allowed an earned run.
UNF shut down UWG's bats in the last 4 innings, "I think we got to give their pitcher credit, he kept us off balance all day and minimized the amount of runs and hits that we have when we did have runners in scoring position," Coach Smith explained.
Coach Smith looks forward to a rubber match game three on Saturday, "Tomorrow, I'm looking forward to seeing our guys step up and be ready to compete, with an opportunity to win a series at home. We've got
Sam Cole going and a lot of guys available in the bullpen. We have to make something happen offensively and play some error free baseball."
Game three is set for tomorrow at Cole Field to see who secures their next conference series win. First pitch is set for 1:00 PM and
Sam Cole is starting.
