UWG Track and Field Set to Host First Home Meet of Season

CARROLLTON, Ga. – Coming off of a record-breaking weekend at the Bulldog Relays, the Wolves will host the third annual UWG Legends Meet for both men's and women's teams from Friday through Saturday at the UWG Track and Field Complex. Action will begin on Friday, April 4, at 9:30 a.m. with the women's 5k open. The UWG Legend meet will continue on Saturday, April 5, starting at 9:30 a.m. with the women's 5k seeded.
 
Sprints and Hurdles 
On the women's side, one Wolf looking to carry the momentum of a standout performance into this weekend's meet is Campbell Brown. At the Bulldog Relays. Brown set a new 100m school record on a time of 11.87 seconds. Tykendra Daniel earned ASUN Freshman of the Week for her performance at the same relay after placing third in the 400m sprint with a time of 56.00 seconds. 
 
For the men, Gavin Barlow is coming off a record-breaking 100m sprint with a time of 10.71 at the Bulldog Relays. At that same meet, Kasahn Rivers broke the UWG 200m record on a time of 21.27. Expect to see these Wolves competing this weekend alongside many other teammates. 
 
Relays 
The women's 4x100m team will compete Saturday at 11:30 a.m. after placing fifth at the Bulldog Relays with a time of 47.93. 
 
The men's team is set to compete right after the women. In their last event, the team took fourth in the 4x100m with a time of 41.02 seconds. 
 
Distance 
For distance, the Wolves are set to take on a variety of events this weekend. One UWG representative expected to race is Kristal McQueen. Back in February at the Green and Gold Invite, McQueen set a new UWG one-mile record with a time of 5:21.25. While there is no miler event, McQueen will be in the 5000m on Saturday. 
 
Competing in the 3000m this Saturday for the men, Gabriel Wrye will race after securing a third-place finish in Mississippi with a time of 9:21.51. 
 
Jumps
 
Another UWG representative coming of a record-breaking performance is Carleigh Bynum. At the Bulldog Relay, Bynum set a record in the pole vault with a jump of 3.70m. She is expected to compete in the pole vault on Saturday. 
 
For the men, Godsfavor Adenuga is coming off a record-breaking meet in Mississippi. At the Bulldog Relay, Adenuga set a record in the long jump, finishing fourth with a best mark of 7.56m. The freshman is expected to take on the long jump on Saturday morning. 
 
Throws 
For the throws, Dru Green is another UWG athlete expected to return this weekend following a record-breaking performance. In the Wolves' last meet, Green set the UWG discus record with a throw of 42.67. She will take on this same event on Saturday morning. 
 
At that same meet, Conner Changizi led the men's team in throws with an 11th-place finish in the javelin with a throw of 44.16m. Changizi is expected to compete in the discuss event Saturday morning. 
 
These athletes represent a small part of the UWG Pack competing this weekend. Live stats and an updated event schedule is tagged above.
