CARROLLTON, Ga.- The University of West Georgia women's track and field team is coming off a first-place victory, recording eleven first-place finishes and twenty-nine top-five finishes in the UWG Legends meet. West Georgia will continue their outdoor season this Friday and Saturday, April 10-11, with competition starting at 11:00 a.m. at the Bulldog Invitational in Asheville, North Carolina, hosted by UNC Asheville.
Last Meet
After an impressive outing at the UWG Legends Meet, UWG saw three school records shattered, beginning with
Elise Duncanson, who set a new program record in the 400m with a time of 54.77 to take first place.
Chloe Leblanc also broke the UWG 400m hurdles record with a time of 59.63. The duo was not finished, as both were part of the 4x400 relay team that broke the school record, alongside
Campbell Brown and
Kellie Walker. The Wolves will look to keep that momentum rolling into their next competition.
Wolves to Watch
Distance
In the Women's 3000m Steeplechase,
Kathrin Maurer ranks eighth in the ASUN with a time of 11:49.42.
Haley Hartman follows closely behind in ninth with a time of 12:18.18.
In the Women's 1500m,
Reatta Danhof ranks tenth in the conference, posting a time of 4:39.89.
Sprints and Hurdles
Duncanson will look to continue her hot start in the outdoor season with the 400m dash. After taking first place in the UWG Legends Meet with a time of 54.77, Duncanson now ranks fourth in the conference.
She was joined by Ty Daniel, who ranks ninth in the conference with a time of 56.08
.
In the 100m dash,
Kellie Walker now ranks fifth in the ASUN, after crossing the line in 11.93 at her recent meet.
Campbell Brown follows in tenth place with a time of 12.23.
Relays
Jumps, Vaults, and Throws
In the field events, Bella Jones ranks first among all freshman in high jump with a mark of 1.52m.
In the pole vault, Carleigh Bynum recently posted a mark of 3.69m, which places her second in the conference. Bynum was followed by
Mallory Peavey, who ranks sixth with a mark of 3.09m.
In the discus, Dru Green ranks second in the conference after her stellar performance at the UWG Legends Meet. Green placed first in the discus with a mark of 46.54m.
Day Atkins leads the Wolves in the hammer and ranks in the top ten in the conference with a mark o
f 43.46m.
To round out the group,
Kyla Ford is also in the top ten, with her performance at the Yellow Jacket Invitational, where she posted a mark of 24.55m in javelin.
