UWG Dominates Day One at Legends Meet

CARROLLTON, Ga.- The University of West Georgia women's track and field team put together a dominant opening day at the UWG Legends Meet on Friday, recording five first-place finishes and 12 top-five finishes to take a commanding lead heading into day two.

Distance
UWG opened the meet in the 3000m, where Catherine Greer led the way with a first-place finish in 11:04.41. Laney Pierce followed in third at 11:42.13, while Madeline Gaskin placed fourth in 12:04.26, giving the Wolves three of the top five finishers in the event.

In the 1500m, Reatta Danhof added another win for West Georgia, crossing the line in 4:52.77. Kathrin Maurer followed with a fourth-place finish in 5:00.27, and Kristal McQueen rounded out the group in 5:08.72.

Sprints & Hurdles
Chloe Leblanc continued her record-breaking season in the 400m hurdles, taking first place in 59.65 and breaking the UWG record she set earlier this season at the Yellow Jacket Invitational. With the performance, Leblanc now ranks first in the ASUN in the event. Jaeva Ridley followed in 1:08.14, Kierra McKenna posted a 1:08.40, and Empress Malone finished in 1:09.49.

In the 200m, Kellie Walker placed fourth in 24.74 and currently ranks second in the ASUN in the event. Elise Duncanson followed in 25.04, Leblanc added a 25.61, and Campbell Brown finished in 25.68.

Jumps & Throws
In the field events, Day Atkins added another first-place finish for the Wolves in the shot put with a mark of 13.58m and now sits top five in the ASUN. Leilah Mathieu followed with a throw of 11.55m, Kyla Ford recorded a 10.53m mark, and Ariana Hale finished with a throw of 9.62m.

West Georgia once again placed three athletes in the top five in the hammer throw. Atkins led the way with a mark of 50.23m to finish second, Dru Green took third with a throw of 47.16m, and Ford placed fourth at 46.98m. In the triple jump, Jordan Kelly represented UWG as the lone Wolf in the event and delivered an impressive performance, winning with a mark of 11.15m.

The Wolves closed day one of the UWG Legends Meet with 103 total points and held first place by more than 60 points.
