West Georgia Baseball Beat By Queens

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -  West Georgia baseball dropped game one 11-3 to Queens University in the final series of the 2025 season today in North Carolina.

Queens' (9-42, 7-21) five-score first frame was just too much to overcome for the Wolves (18-31, 9-19 ASUN), who were out-hit 14-4 tonight at The Stick Williams Dream Field.

In that first inning, the Royals recorded four of their hits.

GAME SUMMARY
Senior righty Lane Pearson made his 14th and final start of the season. In 76.1 innings across 13 appearances, Pearson has posted a 3.54 ERA with 83 strikeouts, tying him for second in strikeouts and placing him eighth in ERA in the ASUN coming into today. For the Royals, Queens went with junior lefty Joey Ruller. In 46.1 frames through 15 appearances, Ruller recorded an 8.94 ERA with 43 strikeouts prior to the series opener.

Queens started the game by jumping out to a 5-0 lead in the bottom of the first on a base-hit RBI and back-to-back two-score doubles.

UWG immediately responded with a home run over the right field fence courtesy of Tyler Presnell, cutting the hosts' advantage to 5-2 in the top of the second. This marked Presnell's fourth homer of the season.

Following two scoreless innings, the Royals pushed their advantage to 6-2 on a fielder's choice in the fifth.

During the sixth, the Wolves answered with a Mason Cooper sacrifice fly to bring Carter Dierdorf home from third.

Queens responded with a homer during the bottom of the seventh, pushing their lead to 7-3. Still in the seventh, the Royals scored on a wild pitch, ending the frame with a 8-3 advantage.

During the eighth, three straight singles brought three Royals to give the hosts a lead of 11-3.

UWG fell 11-3.

BY THE NUMBERS
Lane Pearson was tagged with the loss, ending his season on the mound with a 5-5 record. Through 4.1 innings, Pearson struck out three Wolves and allowed six earned runs.

Carter Dierdorf led the team with two hits, bringing his multi-hit performance total to 15 on the season.
