Men's Track Takes Fourth in Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -  The UWG men's track and field team had a solid showing in their inaugural ASUN Outdoor Championships, placing fourth with a total of 89.50 points over the three-day competition. 

The Wolves finished behind ASUN champions Central Arkansas, Lipscomb, and North Florida, but finished ahead of EKU, Queens, and Bellarmine. 

THROWS 
Kelechi Ihekwereme secured a point in the discus by finishing in eighth place, throwing a top mark of 42.34m. Nicholas Lane finished 17th, throwing 38.63m. 

In the javelin, Hans Urizar led the Wolves contingency with a 48.27m throw, good for a fifth-place finish. Conner Changizi finished in eighth place with a 47.99m toss. 

JUMPS 
Two Wolves finished in the top-five of the triple jump, led by a third-place finish from Marcus Thompson. His top mark measured 14.38m and Godsfavor Adenuga jumped 14.25m to place fifth. 

RELAYS 
The 4x100m relay team placed fifth, crossing the timeline in 41.37, adding five points to the cause. 

It was a sixth-place finish in the 4x400 as the Wolves ran a 3:21.80. 

DISTANCE 
Abenezer Woellore finished the 1500m run in 4:01.39 which was good for 15th place. 

In the 5000m, Griffin Stephens placed 21st with a time of 15:10.89 while Noah Anderson placed 28th with a time of 15:31.90. 

SPRINTS 
Freshman Gavin Barlow continued the stellar opening season to his career, claiming a second-place finish in the 100m dash, running a 10.67 time. Michael Willis also got points for the Wolves in the 100m, finishing in 10.94. 

Matthew Strickland notched another podium finish in the 400m dash, claiming six points for a third-place finish. Strickland finished the race in 48.30. 

Strickland placed sixth in the 200m dash with a time of 22.43. 

HURDLES 
Ishmael Neblett and Kellen Andrews finished eighth and ninth respectively in the 110m hurdles, with Neblett's time of 15.20 earning one point to the team total. Andrews finished in 16.02. 

Landon Chovanic finished seventh in the 400m hurdles with a time of 57.27 to add two points.
