Track & Field Set to Open Season in Louisville

CARROLLTON, Ga.- The 2025-26 indoor track and field season gets underway this Saturday as UWG travels to Louisville, Kentucky, for the Commonwealth Opener. The Wolves will begin their second season at the Division I level in the Bluegrass State. 

For the sprinters, Godsfavor Adenuga is set to compete in the 200m while also entering the long jump with an entry mark of 7.56m and triple jump entering at 14.25m. David Akinyemi will open in the 60m, 200m, and 300m events. Kellen Andrews has a full slate, competing in the 60m, 60m hurdles, pole vault, long jump, and shot put. Gavin Barlow will line up in the 60m race and compete in long jump, while Kyron Belton competes in the 60m, 200m, and runs the second leg of the 4x400m relay. Matthew Brunner will compete in multiple events, entering the 60m, 60m hurdles, high jump, long jump, shot put, and running as the fifth leg of the 4x400m relay. 

Trey Campbell will race in the 60m and 300m, and will be the third leg for the 4x400m. Conner Changizi competes in the 60m, 600m, shot put, and long jump. Landon Chovanic will run the 300m, 60m hurdles, and open the 4x400m relay as the first leg. Jackson Connors will compete in the 60m and 60m hurdles while entering the pole vault, long jump, and shot put. Vaughn Dickenson Jr. will race in the 60m and 200m, with opening marks of 6.9 and 22.8. Richard Griffin will be in action in the 400m, long jump, triple jump, and serve as sixth leg in the 4x400m relay. Samuel Hall will compete exclusively in pole vaulting, entering with an opening mark of 4.02m. Bryson Howard opens his season in the 60m and 60m hurdles. 

Distance runners for UWG include Tyler Jones, who will run the 1 mile and 3000m, while Abdel Mahamat takes on the 500m and 1000m. Daniel Murtagh enters the 800m with an opening entry of 2:04.35 and will also run the mile. 

Wolves who will be jumping exclusively include William Shawley, who will compete in the high jump and triple jump with marks of 1.89m and 13.37m. Ryane Martin Jr. enters the triple jump with an entry of 13.32m. Isaiah McMichael will represent UWG in the high jump at 2.00m.

Other pole vaulters include Connor McLain, who enters with a 4.78m mark. Kareem Nazim joins him in the event at 4.89m, and Shea Thieaves rounds out the vault squad with a 4.48m entry.

For the throwers, Ethan Butler-Paige brings power into the weight throw with a strong opening mark of 12.17m. Darius Mcneal joins him in the weight throw at 12.69m, and Nicholas Lane enters the shot put at 13.28m and the weight throw at 15.04m. Finally, Aiden Willis will compete in the shot put.

The Wolves will be led by Head Coach Ryan Bailey, along with sprints, jumps, and hurdles coach Shanicka Dyson-Woodman, pole vault coach Shannon Riley, throws coach Robert Brown, and graduate assistants Phelani Maduwa and Olivia Fulford.
